Environmental monitoring for closed robotic workcells used in aseptic processing
By Cytiva
Recognising that human operators are a major potential source of contamination in aseptic processing, a global study was set up to examine the use of closed robotic workcells. Uniquely, a group of eight independent companies and users of robotic workcells, aggregated their data from 2018- 2021, to assess the performance of innovative aseptic filling technology and help drive modern regulatory standards.
This paper examines how patient safety can be enhanced through the elimination of human intervention in aseptic filling and analyses critical design elements and performance of the Cytiva SA25 Aseptic Filling Workcell, suggesting that new regulatory consideration should be made for closed robotic workcells.
